WHAT IS IT? ACUTE NERVE ROOT COMPRESSION

Compression of the nerve where it exits from the spine

Severe sharp pain from the neck which runs down the arm

Pain is position dependent
Signs and symptoms

Increased pain with neck movement (extension, rotation)

Eased pain with placing arm in sling position or overhead as well as hitching of shoulder

Other symptoms such as pins and needles, numbness, weakness, loss of reflexes
